I’ve written a quick script to turn a freshly installed raspberry pi into a linux seedbox. I’d previously written a script which scrapes popular linux sites for their .torrent files, and downloads them to a bittorrent client’s watch directory. You can find the code here.
My new script installs and configures rtorrent (a cli bittorrent client), pulls down my .torrent scraping script, and schedules it to be run daily. Running just one script, you can have a raspberry pi turned into an always up to date linux seeding machine!
To download and run the script, use the commands below.
Because of the minimal storage capacity on a raspberry pi’s sd card, this script pulls only a few torrents totaling around 30g. If you would like to set up a seedbox with more storage, you can use this script instead.
